Turbo Volume – QGIS Plugin

Turbo Volume plugin allows you to calculate cut and fill volumes for a given DEM raster layer, from a given reference plane. Calculations can be performed for the entire layer, and can also be limited to a given area. From the performed calculations, you can create a text file with a short report.

Select a layer:

Through a pulldown menu, showing all the visible raster layers loaded, this section allows you to select the layer, containing elevation data, to calculate volumes. The layer must be saved in one of the rectangular plane coordinate systems.

Reference level:

Enter here the height of the reference plane from which the volumes will be calculated additionally, using the Min, Max buttons you can insert the minimum or maximum value read from the DEM layer.

In the current version of the plugin, the reference plane height units and DEM units are assumed to be the same as the DEM coordinate units.

Report:

After selecting the create report checkbox, enter here the path to save the text file with the report.

Checkbox Would you like to set limit of the area:

After selecting this option, the Boundary section will be unlocked, where you can limit the calculation area with a specified polygon.

Boundary:

Through a pulldown menu, showing all the visible polygon layers loaded, this section allow you to select the layer with the boundary of the area for which you want to limit the calculations. The coordinate system of this layer must be the same as the DEM layer.

Options:

Here you can set options for creating a calculation report.

Create report – when checked, a text file with the report will be created after the calculation is performed. After selecting, the Report section for selecting a file, and additional options for creating a report will be unlocked:

Create new – creates a new text file with the report.

Add – appends a report to an existing file.

The number of decimal spacer H – defines the precision of saving the height values in the report.

The number of decimal spacer V – defines the precision of saving the volume values in the report.

Default settings – restores the default report creation options.
